President Droupadi Murmu emphasised the urgency of “green engineering” during a meeting with officers of the Military Engineer Services (MES) on Friday. She encouraged them to construct environmentally friendly and sustainable structures that promote the use of renewable energy sources. The President addressed a group of MES probationers at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, highlighting that an engineer’s role extends beyond calculations and construction to connecting communities, realising dreams, and shaping the future.
As fresh recruits in the service, President Murmu stressed the importance of being aware of environmental challenges and climate change issues. She charged them with the responsibility of designing and building structures that are eco-friendly, sustainable, and conducive to increased renewable energy usage.
Murmu acknowledged the ever-evolving nature of the engineering field, where new technologies and methods are constantly emerging.
