In a groundbreaking development, the Noida International Airport (NIA) and IndiGo, the largest domestic airline in the country, have officially inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The strategic partnership positions IndiGo as the inaugural airline to commence operations from the highly anticipated Noida International Airport, slated for inauguration by the close of 2024.
Situated in the Jewar area of Gautam Buddh Nagar district, approximately 75 km from Delhi, the greenfield airport is poised to become the second international and third overall commercial airport in the bustling National Capital Region (NCR).
The agreement, sealed in Delhi, outlines a collaborative effort between NIA and IndiGo to not only enhance air connectivity within Uttar Pradesh but also to extend their influence beyond state borders. The partnership aims to cultivate new and innovative approaches that promise operational efficiency and an elevated customer experience, according to a statement released by NIA.
Expressing enthusiasm about the collaboration, Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida International Airport, stated, “We are excited to sign this MoU with IndiGo, which has a strong base both in domestic and international markets. The partnership between NIA and IndiGo will not only help bolster air connectivity but also innovate, ensuring an exceptional customer experience for our customers alike.”
IndiGo’s CEO, Pieter Elbers, echoed the sentiment, expressing the airline’s thrill in becoming the launch carrier for NIA. “As India’s leading airline, IndiGo has always been at the forefront of enhancing connectivity and giving wings to the nation. Our operations at NIA will provide the people of Uttar Pradesh with seamless connectivity across our unparalleled network,” Elbers said.
The collaborative effort aims to leverage IndiGo’s extensive route network and expertise to provide passengers with unparalleled connectivity and a superior travel experience. The inauguration of Noida International Airport in 2024 marks a significant milestone in the aviation landscape, with both entities committed to exploring innovative methods to deliver affordable, punctual, and hassle-free travel across the 6E network.
