Garuda Aerospace, Backed by MS Dhoni, Ventures into Offline Retail with New Showrooms

Chennai-based drone manufacturer Garuda Aerospace, supported by cricket legend MS Dhoni, is set to make its mark in offline retail with the inauguration of company-owned outlet stores, starting with its first showroom in Chennai post-Diwali. The move is accompanied by the launch of Garuda Aerospace’s innovative “Service on Wheels” program, catering to after-sales service needs.

Garuda Aerospace envisions establishing approximately 400 retail outlets and mobile drone centers in 2024, marking a significant expansion for the company. Founder and CEO Agnishwar Jayaprakash expressed the milestone in a release, stating, “Our entry into offline sales is a milestone for us. This investment is a significant step forward as it takes us closer to our target buyers.”

The decision to diversify into offline retail follows Garuda Aerospace’s recent success in securing ₹25 crore from investors, including Venture Catalysts and WeFounderCircle, as part of a bridge round. The funds will play a pivotal role in meeting the soaring demand for drones, including a substantial order for 400 drones from the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd and pre-bookings totaling 10,000 drones from dealers nationwide. A portion of the funds will also fuel Garuda Aerospace’s ambitious retail expansion plans, according to the release.

This strategic move not only aligns with the surging demand for drones but also capitalizes on the growing interest in offline retail experiences. Garuda Aerospace’s foray into brick-and-mortar outlets coupled with its innovative after-sales service approach positions the company for continued success in the dynamic drone market.
