Ducati Unveils Hypermotard 698 Mono: A Versatile Powerhouse

Ducati, the renowned Italian motorcycle manufacturer, has introduced its latest creation, the Hypermotard 698 Mono, to the global market. This versatile motorcycle is designed to cater to both city commuting and track performance needs, making it an exciting addition to Ducati’s lineup. While the official word on its availability in the Indian market is pending, motorcycle enthusiasts are already buzzing with anticipation.

The standout feature of the Hypermotard 698 Mono is its engine, aptly named the Superquadro Mono. This single-cylinder engine is being hailed as the most powerful in its class, and for good reason. It boasts an impressive 76.43 bhp of maximum power at 9,750 rpm and a peak torque of 62.76 Nm at 8,000 rpm, all from a 659 cc liquid-cooled unit that forms the heart of this dynamic motorcycle. Ducati also plans to offer an A2 version with reduced power and torque output, catering to a broader range of riders.

The motorcycle comes with a 6-speed transmission, with gear ratios derived from the expertise of the Panigale V4, Ducati’s iconic sportbike. Notably, the first gear has been extended to enhance its usability in slow corners, making the most of the available power. Riders will have the option to equip the gearbox with Ducati Quick Shift (DQS), enabling seamless upshifting and downshifting.

In the suspension department, the Hypermotard 698 Mono doesn’t disappoint. It features fully adjustable 5 mm Marzocchi upside-down forks at the front and a fully adjustable Sachs monoshock at the rear, promising a smooth and controlled ride. Braking is entrusted to a 330 mm diameter disc with a Brembo M4.32 4-piston radial caliper at the front, accompanied by a 240 mm disc at the rear. For added safety, the motorcycle is equipped with dual-channel ABS, ensuring confident and controlled stops.

Ducati takes the rider experience to the next level with a comprehensive range of electronic aids, including Ducati Wheelie Control, Ducati Traction Control, Engine Brake Control, and Ducati Power Launch. The motorcycle also offers three distinct riding modes – Sport, Road, Urban, and Wet – as well as three power modes: Low, Mid, and High, allowing riders to tailor their experience to suit their preferences and riding conditions.

The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono promises to be a thrilling addition to the world of motorcycles, offering an exciting blend of power, agility, and advanced technology. While its availability in the Indian market is yet to be confirmed, it’s sure to create a buzz among motorcycle enthusiasts who appreciate both city-friendly design and track-ready performance.
