New York, USA: Flood flashing, torrential rainfall and signs of hurricane..what is climate change bringing to the world?

Various parts of The New City are grappling with floods. Areas where homes cost millions of dollars have been submerged in the waters. Heavy floods pouring all day and night were reported on Friday’s. The statistics are staggering. At midnight, New York City received more rainfall than it typically does in an entire month. More than five inches of heavy rainfall was reported in Central Park and upto 8-inches of rainfall in John F. Kennedy International Airport yesterday. This was the highest ever recorded rainfall. Streets have turned into rivers Subway stations have transformed into lakes and residents found themselves hovering here and there in chaos.
A State of Emergency
In response to heavy rainfall leading to flashing floods, Major Eric Adams and City Governor Kathy Hochul declared a State of emergency. This decision was taken to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens.
According to National Weather Services (NWS), around 8.5 million people were in the flash flood alert area.
Climate change comes to surface
The New York floods have been reminiscent of what might happen in the coming years especially with climate change coming into picture. As per the reports, the sea levels of the city have shown a steep rise. This is said to be adversely linked to increased global temperature and intensification of extreme weather conditions. The New York floods also serve as a stark reminder of the looming threats posed by climate change
It’s not finished yet, there’s more rain on the way”, New York gov.said during an afternoon briefing. He further asked all New Yorkers to stay safe at home and avoid driving in flood hit areas.
